RaceTrac CEO Carl Bolch, Jr. named Retailer of the Year

Las Vegas, NV - Carl Bolch, Jr., CEO of RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc., has been named CSP's 2009 Retail Leader of the Year. The award recognizes Carl's ground-breaking work merchandising gasoline throughout the Southeast and tremendous business acumen. Family members and over 300 colleagues were in attendance at this gala event, with several lauding him through heartfelt, emotional anecdotes.

Carl propelled his father's business, Carl Bolch Trackside Stations, to the next level by pioneering the concept of Self-Service and high-volume gas retailing. Nine years after joining the company in 1967, he rebranded the company "RaceTrac," moved it to Atlanta, and set to work creating serious competition for the "major" oil companies. Since that time, Carl has grown the company to 575 stores, and it continues to grow at a remarkable clip. On track to open over fifty new stores in 2010 alone, RaceTrac is poised for continued growth under Carl's watchful eye.

This watchful eye is driven by a constant willingness to challenge the status quo. "[His leadership qualities] include a natural entrepreneurship and ability to come up with new ideas on how to do the things we do every day," said Allison Moran, SVP, RaceTrac Division. As RaceTrac evolves to create exciting experiences everyday for its guests, Carl continues to set the standard of excellence for his contemporaries and challenges his company to maintain their position as innovation leaders.
